Brighton Vs Man United

Brighton's Dramatic Penalty Winner Dashes Manchester United's Champions League Hopes

Ten Hag Calls for Resilience After Disappointing Loss

Manchester United's European aspirations took a significant hit after Brighton secured a stunning 99th-minute penalty victory at Old Trafford.

Manchester, England - Manchester United's hopes of securing a top-four spot in the Premier League and a place in next season's Champions League were dealt a major blow as Brighton & Hove Albion emerged victorious with a dramatic penalty winner in the dying moments of their encounter.

The Red Devils were on the verge of securing a point after a hard-fought contest, but their hopes were shattered when Neal Maupay converted a spot-kick in the 99th minute. The result was a bitter blow for manager Erik ten Hag and his players, who are now in danger of missing out on a place in Europe's elite club competition next season.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, ten Hag acknowledged the disappointment of the defeat but urged his team to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures. "It's a big setback, but we have to move on and focus on the next game," he said. "We have to show resilience and character to get back on track."

The result leaves Manchester United in fifth place in the Premier League standings, three points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot. With just a handful of matches remaining in the season, ten Hag's side will need to produce a strong finish to secure a top-four finish.
