Liverpool Extend Title Lead
Mane Goal Secures Hard-Fought Win Over Wolves
Reds Finish Year as Favorable Contenders
Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday, edging out Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at Anfield thanks to a first-half strike from Sadio Mane.
The victory sends the Reds into the new year with a commanding 13-point advantage, firmly establishing them as the favorites to win their first league title in three decades.
Mane's goal came in the 42nd minute, when he latched onto a pinpoint cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold and headed it past Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
Despite creating several chances, Liverpool were unable to add to their lead in the second half, while Wolves came close to equalizing but were denied by some heroic saves from Alisson Becker.
The win marked Liverpool's eighth successive league victory and extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 25 matches.
For Wolverhampton Wanderers, the defeat left them eighth in the table, but they will look to bounce back when they host Manchester United on New Year's Day.
