Early Life and Career
Kenneth Gilbert More CBE (20 September 1914 - 12 July 1982) was an English film and stage actor. His career spanned over four decades, during which time he appeared in more than 70 films and numerous stage productions.
Stage and Screen Success
More's early stage work included roles in "Ladies in Retirement" and "Gas Light." He made his film debut in 1940's "Contraband." His breakthrough role came in the 1950 comedy "Doctor in the House," which established him as one of Britain's most popular leading men.
Notable Performances
More's filmography boasts a wide range of memorable performances, including "The Yellow Balloon," "A Night to Remember," and "The Bridge on the River Kwai." He also starred opposite Katharine Hepburn in Joseph L. Mankiewicz's "Beat the Devil."
